BROOKSLEY BORN, a short tribute to the former Chairperson of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (Aug 26, 1996-July 1, 1999), regulating the Futures and Options markets. IF we had listened to her warnings and IF we had allowed her agency to regulate the most risky, unregulated derivatives (including Credit Default Swaps), and IF we had forced Congress to keep the Glass-Steagal protections on how bankers invest our money, we could have prevented the financial collapse of 2008.

FAX!, a long list of documents that homeowners must fax (not mail) to their lenders every few weeks as they wait, and wait, for a mortgage modification, with no way to confirm that everything went to the proper file.
Sing, first verse:  PAY STUBS, BUDGET, HARDSHIP LETTER... YOU CAN SEND IT ONCE, BUT TWICE IS BETTER. FAX! JUST THE FAX! SEND IT AGAIN! SEND IT AGAIN!

LOAN FOR A HOME, a waltz that is sung as every home loan is signed.
Mrs C sings to loan agent: IT'S A LOAN, FOR A HOME, A LIFELONG INVESTMENT! DREAMS COME TRUE, THANKS TO YOU! (Mr C: SHE'S A LITTLE BIT PREGNANT.) Mrs C, to Mr C: TELL OUR REALTOR, RENEE, WE CAN LOOK RIGHT AWAY, AND BE MOVED IN BEFORE LABOR DAY. Buyers all have the same refrain: JUST SAY OKAY, AND WE'LL FIND A WAY TO PAY!
Later, the melody becomes a sad comment on foreclosure: IT'S A HOUSE, NOT A HOME, AND YOU'RE WELCOME TO STAY... TILL THE DAY WHEN THEY SEND YOU AWAY.

LESS/MORE, interwoven with LOAN FOR A HOME, is sung by mortgage loan agents and others to confuse the buyers into spending more money than they intended.
Loan Agent sings to Mr C: AFTER THREE YEARS, NEVER LESS, YOUR INTEREST MIGHT BE MORE, BUT IT CANNOT GO ABOVE ELEVEN POINT FOUR. STATE YOUR INCOME HERE... (pause while Mr C scribbles a "stated income" and Agent adjusts it to a higher number. Agent continues.) WITH YOUR CURRENT CREDIT SCORE, YOU'LL GET PRE-APPROVED TODAY AND BE OUT THE DOOR.
MR C and MRS C sing, to Loan Agent: JUST SAY OKAY, AND WE'LL FIND A WAY TO PAY.
Later, the melody is sung with thrifty hints by penny-pinching homeowners, using a refrain that was popular during the Great Depression of the 1930s: USE IT UP, WEAR IT OUT, MAKE IT DO, OR DO WITHOUT!
